In collaboration with Matt Peeples (ASU) and Tom Brughmans (Aarhus University) I’m currently investigating settlement movement networks within historic pueblos of the American Southwest. Using Arroyo Hondo as an initial case study we are looking at how the pueblo’s plazas structured movement to and from these spaces. This allows for larger questions to be asked as to the types of social interactions that occurred between people and families as they engaged with the settlement’s various public spaces. A new methodology is being applied to assess the various potential movement networks that integrates urban network analysis and agent-based modelling.
